Victoria Deploys 139 Neighbourhood Batteries to Reduce Power Bills
The Victorian government has initiated the rollout of 139 neighbourhood batteries to lower power bills and enhance energy resilience. These batteries utilize inexpensive renewable energy and are designed to provide backup during extreme weather. The latest installation at Truganina Community Centre is projected to save $20,000 annually. The initiative is part of the 100 Neighbourhood Batteries Program, contributing to Victoria's energy storage target of 2.6 GW by 2030 and 6.3 GW by 2035.

Victoria is deploying 139 neighbourhood batteries aimed at reducing power bills and increasing energy resilience. These batteries capture low-cost renewable energy and are activated during peak demand or outages.
The Truganina Community Centre received one of the latest batteries, expected to save $20,000 annually. This initiative, part of the 100 Neighbourhood Batteries Program, enhances the state's energy storage capacity, contributing to targets of at least 2.6 GW by 2030 and 6.3 GW by 2035. Currently, 60 local government areas in Victoria have these batteries, supporting the state's renewable energy investment.
