Vietnam Approves $2.3 Billion Expansion of Alumina Projects by Vinacomin in Lam Dong
Lam Dong's provincial administration has approved a $2.3 billion expansion plan for alumina projects by Vinacomin, which includes the Nhan Co plant and the Lam Dong bauxite-aluminum complex. The Nhan Co expansion will add a production line with a capacity of 1.2 million metric tons per year, expected to begin operations in 2030. The Bao Lam complex will also add a similar production line, with construction set to finish by late 2030. These projects are the largest investments in the province's history.

The Lam Dong provincial administration has approved a $2.3 billion expansion of alumina projects by the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin). The Nhan Co alumina plant's expansion will cost approximately VND29.986 trillion ($1.16 billion) and will add a production line with a capacity of 1.2 million metric tons per year, covering 870 hectares, expected to start operations in 2030.
The Lam Dong bauxite-aluminum complex will require around VND29.869 trillion ($1.15 billion) for a second production line of the same capacity, covering 20.79 hectares, with completion scheduled for the third quarter of 2030. The provincial administration emphasized adherence to regulations and timelines for successful project execution.
