Vietnam Launches €5 Billion AI Data Center Project to Drive Digital Economy Initiatives
Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh announced a €5 billion AI data center project, with a report due in Q1 2026 to inform workforce retraining strategies in sectors affected by AI. The initiative aims to accelerate digitalization and restructuring of industries by establishing 'digital industrial complexes' and 'super data centers,' while promoting high-tech agriculture and smart rural areas.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need for intelligent digital ecosystems in services and commerce, and urged the implementation of a digital safety net to enhance transparency and efficiency. The Ministry of Science and Technology will develop legislation for technology and innovation, and submit a digital economy development program for 2026-2030. Additionally, the government will work on a national framework for the digital economy by January 2026 and enhance 5G deployment and cloud computing capabilities.
