Vietnam PM Directs Increased Power Imports and Emergency Measures to Prevent Energy Shortages
Vietnam's Prime Minister has mandated the acceleration of power imports and emergency measures to address potential energy shortages. This initiative is crucial for maintaining energy supply and ensuring the stability of electricity and fuel availability, particularly in northern Vietnam.

The Vietnamese government has initiated steps to enhance electricity imports, targeting the northern region with plans for increased imports from Laos by 2027. Immediate solutions include deploying floating power plants to support urgent energy needs and promoting energy-saving measures, alongside the expansion of rooftop solar systems with energy storage.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade is tasked with expediting key projects, including the 110-megawatt Na Duong II and the 650-megawatt An Khanh-Bac Giang plants, while addressing bottlenecks in renewable energy projects. Monitoring fuel supply and optimizing distribution channels are also priorities, aiming to prevent market disruptions. Non-compliance with project timelines will face strict actions to maintain progress.
