Vietnam's 5G and AI Initiatives Drive Digital Transformation and Semiconductor Development by 2025
Vietnam is advancing its digital transformation with the effective deployment of 5G technology, hailed by Vu Hoang Lien of the Vietnam Internet Network Association as essential for national industrial development. Major companies like Viettel are leveraging 5G to develop solutions and improve agricultural outreach.
TikTok Vietnam's Nguyen Lam Thanh noted that 5G will enhance the visibility of farmers’ products, while Shopee Vietnam's Tran Tuan Anh emphasized that Vietnam's low 5G rates will boost e-commerce, especially in rural areas. Alongside 5G, the establishment of large-scale data centers is laying the groundwork for AI and digital governance.
Viettel aims to make AI a significant revenue contributor by 2030 and is constructing a semiconductor chip manufacturing plant at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park. FPT has also exported commercial chips to Japan, marking a milestone for Vietnam's semiconductor industry. The convergence of digital technology with the defense sector is evident as Viettel showcases advanced military technologies.
