Vineyard Wind Contracts to Save Massachusetts $1.4 Billion on Electricity
Massachusetts customers are projected to save $1.4 billion on electricity over the next 20 years due to activated Vineyard Wind contracts. These agreements will provide an average savings of 1.4 cents per kilowatt-hour, ensuring stable energy prices and increased reliance on offshore wind resources.

The activation of Vineyard Wind contracts will lead to an estimated $1.4 billion in savings for Massachusetts electricity customers over 20 years, translating to a reduction of 1.4 cents per kilowatt-hour. The project has already produced nearly 4,000 jobs and contributed $1.94 billion to the economy, while also reducing carbon emissions by over 1.6 million metric tons annually.
In the winter of 2024/2025, offshore wind could potentially save New England ratepayers $400 million in utility costs, decreasing energy prices by 11%. Governor Healey's administration is working to augment energy supply and reduce bills further, with a goal of adding 10 gigawatts of new energy resources by 2035, potentially saving an additional $10 billion for residents and businesses.
