VINSSEN has partnered with MANA Engineering to develop a hydrogen fuel cell retrofit for an 800 TEU feeder vessel in Northern Europe. The retrofit will keep the vessel's main propulsion system while replacing hotel loads and auxiliary power with hydrogen fuel cells and battery energy storage.

This system will use swappable hydrogen storage modules and allow for seamless operation between fuel cells and diesel generators. The initiative aims to reduce CO₂ emissions and enhance compliance with FuelEU Maritime and EU ETS standards, improving the vessel's Carbon Intensity Indicator rating. MANA Engineering will leverage its European engineering expertise, while VINSSEN will provide its fuel cell technologies.
