VivoPower to Acquire 40MW Data Center in Norway for $40 Million
VivoPower International PLC has entered into an exclusive agreement to acquire a 40MW operational data center in Norway for $40 million, with the deal expected to close in January 2026. Powered by renewable hydroelectric energy, the facility aims to help VivoPower return to profitability after a negative EBITDA of $8.27 million last year, and will be transformed into a 'Sovereign AI Hub' for training large language models. The site also has potential for an additional 40MW capacity, pending approval in 2026.

VivoPower International PLC has signed an exclusive agreement to acquire a 40MW operational data center in Norway, powered by renewable hydroelectric energy. The $40 million transaction is expected to close in January 2026 and will be financed through seller deferred financing and convertible preferred shares priced at $6.80.
The acquisition aims to return VivoPower to group profitability, following a negative EBITDA of $8.27 million over the past year. The Norwegian facility offers hydroelectric energy at less than $0.035/kWh and includes a 50-year land lease.
Currently operating as a co-hosting site for blockchain computing, VivoPower plans to transform it into a 'Sovereign AI Hub' for training large language models. The facility also has potential for an additional 40MW capacity, pending approval in 2026.
