V.O. Chidambaranar Port Launches India's First Major Dedicated Sustainability Report
V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has released its Sustainability Report 2026, marking a significant step in India's maritime sustainability efforts. The report outlines achievements in renewable energy, green hydrogen production, and comprehensive community initiatives.

The V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA) launched its inaugural Sustainability Report 2026, highlighting a renewable energy coverage increase to approximately 94% and a commitment to carbon neutrality by 2026.
The port became the first in India to produce green hydrogen in September 2025, with ambitions for commercial-scale production by 2029, scaling from 8 kg/day to over 600 kg/day. In FY2025-26, VOCPA handled 43.31 million tonnes of cargo and achieved a total income of ₹1,058.59 crore.
Community investments include healthcare and education, alongside a focus on women's livelihood initiatives. Future plans involve adding 17 MW of wind capacity and further developing green fuel ecosystems. The strategic positioning along the Rotterdam-Singapore corridor may enhance VOCPA's competitive edge in the maritime sector.
