Volt Resources Challenges Mining License Cancellation in Tanzania
Volt Graphite Tanzania contests the Tanzanian government's decision to revoke its mining licenses for the Bunyu project. This legal action follows substantial investments and progress in project funding and community engagement.

Volt Graphite Tanzania is contesting the Tanzanian government's cancellation of its mining licenses for the Bunyu graphite project. The company has invested significantly in exploration, feasibility studies, and community engagement, and had recently established a funding pathway through a binding term sheet with an Unbounded Opportunities Fund, proposing an $11.1 million equity investment.
Additionally, Volt has increased contracted sales volumes and made preparations for site readiness, including infrastructure improvements and community support initiatives. Despite ongoing discussions with the government and a varied offtake agreement with Qingdai Baixing Graphite, uncertainties persist. Volt is exploring legal avenues, including an appeal to the Tanzanian court regarding the license cancellation, as it aims to maintain financial stability and stakeholder relationships amid these challenges.
