Volta Energy Receives $1.5 Million Grant for PFAS-Free Battery Development
Volta Energy Inc. has secured $1.5 million from the Government of Canada to advance its PFAS-free solid-state battery technology. This funding will support a two-year project aimed at developing a prototype battery system that integrates high-voltage cathode technology with a solid-state electrolyte.

Volta Energy Inc. has obtained $1.5 million in funding from the Government of Canada's Innovative Solutions Canada program to advance its PFAS-free, cobalt-free solid-state lithium-ion battery platform. The two-year project aims to develop a prototype battery system that combines proprietary cathode technology with a novel solid-state electrolyte, targeting Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 for future commercialization.
This initiative leverages Canadian critical minerals to enhance safety and sustainability in energy storage, addressing market needs across various sectors including transportation and renewable energy. The project could strengthen Canada's position in the global battery market and improve supply-chain resilience.
