Vulcan Energy Breaks Ground on Second Drilling Site for Lionheart Project in Rohrbach, Germany
Vulcan Energy has commenced construction at the Trappelberg drilling site in Rohrbach, Germany, as part of its Lionheart project. This site follows the Schleidberg location and aims to provide climate-neutral heating for Landau and surrounding areas. The project includes a deep groundwater monitoring well to protect aquifers during drilling. Drilling is set to begin in the second half of 2026, with plans for five new sites in the region. Positive results from the Schleidberg site confirm high lithium content and reservoir performance.

Vulcan Energy has officially broken ground on the Trappelberg drilling site in Rohrbach, Germany, as part of its Lionheart project. This site is the second after Schleidberg and will contribute to the climate-neutral heating supply for Landau and neighboring areas.
Preparatory work, including the installation of a deep groundwater monitoring well, has been completed to ensure aquifer protection during drilling. The start of drilling at Trappelberg is scheduled for the second half of 2026, with Vulcan planning to develop five new drilling sites in total. Positive outcomes from the Schleidberg site have confirmed the high lithium content and reservoir capacity, supporting the project's viability.
