WA Recycling Infrastructure Receives $8M Upgrade for Paper and Cardboard Processing
Western Australia is set to enhance its paper and cardboard recycling capabilities with a $7.92 million investment, aimed at improving domestic market competitiveness. The project, supported by the WA Recycling Modernisation Fund, is critical for advancing resource recovery and waste management standards in the region.

The Australian and Western Australian governments will invest $7.92 million to upgrade paper and cardboard recycling infrastructure at the Canning Vale Materials Recovery Facility. This project, facilitated by the WA Recycling Modernisation Fund, involves the installation of new equipment by operator Re.Group to minimize contamination and ensure compliance with Australian standards.
Key improvements include ballistic separators and optical sorters designed to enhance processing efficiency. The initiative is expected to create 25 jobs during the installation and commissioning phase, focusing on quality control and staff training. This upgrade is essential for maintaining the strategic importance of the facility in WA's waste processing landscape, potentially reducing landfill and improving overall resource recovery rates.
