WABAG and PEAK Launch Bio-CNG Plant in Ghaziabad, India
VA Tech WABAG and PEAK Sustainability Ventures are developing a Bio-CNG plant at Ghaziabad's sewage treatment facility, marking a significant step in waste-to-energy initiatives across India. The project aims to convert methane emissions into renewable fuel, contributing to environmental sustainability and energy security.
VA Tech WABAG and PEAK Sustainability Ventures have initiated the development of a Bio-CNG plant at the 70 MLD sewage treatment facility in Ghaziabad, India. This project, part of a broader initiative to establish 100 Bio-CNG plants in India, will convert biogas generated from sewage into renewable fuel, aiming to reduce approximately 250,000 metric tons of carbon emissions over its lifecycle.
Scheduled commercial operations are expected to commence within one year. WABAG will manage project execution and maintenance for 15 years, while PEAK will provide strategic support and assist in securing climate-focused funding. The project also aligns with India's clean energy goals and enhances local employment through domestic sourcing of equipment.
