WAPDA to Begin RCC Works on Diamer Bhasha and Dasu Dams in 2026
The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) will commence roller-compacted-concrete (RCC) works on the Diamer Bhasha and Dasu dams this year. WAPDA Chairman Lt Gen (r) Muhammad Saeed reviewed the progress during site visits. The Diamer Bhasha Dam is set to be completed by 2030, while the Dasu Hydropower Project aims for electricity generation to start in 2028. Several local development projects are also underway to uplift the project areas.

WAPDA will begin RCC works on the Diamer Bhasha and Dasu dams in 2026. Chairman Lt Gen (r) Muhammad Saeed reviewed construction progress at both sites. The Diamer Bhasha Dam, located on the River Indus, is expected to be completed by 2030, with RCC placement beginning this year.
The Dasu Hydropower Project anticipates starting electricity generation in 2028, with RCC pouring also commencing this year. Local development initiatives are ongoing, including completed infrastructure projects and health facilities.
