Wastewater Treatment Plans Discussed for Old Post Road Development in Bedford Village
The Planning Board's public hearing on the mixed-use development at 633-647 Old Post Road addressed wastewater treatment systems. The proposed facility aims to enhance existing infrastructure while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

The Planning Board of Bedford Village resumed a public hearing focused on wastewater treatment for the development at 633-647 Old Post Road. Senior consultant Bill Bright detailed the existing wastewater treatment plant's capacity, which currently handles approximately 4,000 gallons per day against a permit limit of 6,700 gallons.
The new system, a moving bed bioreactor, is projected to handle flows of 20,000 to 30,000 gallons. Discussions included potential stricter limits on ammonia and phosphorus in future discharge permits. Bright confirmed that the upgraded facility would produce effluent of higher quality than current stream conditions. Regulatory compliance remains a key focus as the project progresses.
