The Water Services Corporation (WSC) has signed a €33.15 million contract for the upgrade of the Iċ-Ċumnija Wastewater Treatment Plant in Malta, following unanimous Planning Authority approval. The project is currently in the design stage, with construction expected to start in the coming months.

It will feature advanced odour control systems and sound mitigation measures. The upgrade aims to increase the production of New Water for farmers and reduce groundwater demand. This initiative is part of WSC's €377 million National Investment Plan focused on improving water and wastewater infrastructure across Malta and Gozo.
