Water Supply Disruption Affects 2,500 Properties in Eastbourne
A suspected burst main caused significant water supply disruption in Eastbourne, impacting approximately 2,500 properties and leading to school closures. Restoration efforts were initiated by South East Water, with full service expected by the evening.

On April 16, an estimated 2,500 properties in Eastbourne experienced water supply issues due to a suspected burst main. Schools, including The Eastbourne Academy, were closed as a result. South East Water reported conducting valve operations at a nearby site around 5:30 PM, which initiated the restoration of water supply.
Customers were advised that returning water might appear cloudy or brown due to harmless iron and manganese deposits. Those in elevated areas may experience longer delays in service restoration, although full recovery was anticipated by the evening. Continuous updates from South East Water are pending.
