Watercycle Technologies Launches Modular Battery Recycling System with Direct Lithium Extraction in Europe
Watercycle Technologies has launched a modular battery recycling system in Europe that incorporates Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) alongside hydrometallurgical processes for producing valuable chemical products like lithium carbonate and graphite. This innovative system is designed to maximize lithium recovery with zero waste while allowing for scalable investments and integration into existing battery facilities, thereby reducing transport costs. The company claims to be the first in Europe to commercialize this technology.

Watercycle Technologies has introduced a modular hydrometallurgical system for battery recycling that utilizes proprietary selective extraction, mineral enrichment, and crystallization processes. This technology produces saleable chemical products such as lithium carbonate, graphite, NMC, and pCAM while maintaining controlled capital expenditure (CAPEX).
The company claims to be the first in Europe to commercialize Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE), which is integrated into their hydromet system, allowing for high lithium recoveries with zero waste. The modular design facilitates scaling investment costs with feedstock growth and is adaptable for integration into existing battery collection and manufacturing facilities, reducing transport costs.
