Weeebytes Pty Ltd Fined $19,800 for Illegal E-Waste Export to Singapore
Weeebytes Pty Ltd has been fined $19,800 for illegally exporting hazardous e-waste to Singapore. The Australian recycling company shipped a container that was intercepted by Singapore authorities on March 24, 2025.
The shipment contained crushed hard drives, printed circuit boards, solar inverters, and lithium-ion batteries, which were hidden behind other goods and not properly declared. Weeebytes was aware of the export requirements but failed to obtain a necessary permit under the Hazardous Waste (Regulation of Exports and Imports) Act 1989.
The company is required to return the container to Australia and dispose of the e-waste lawfully at its own cost. The Australian Government is enhancing its monitoring efforts to prevent illegal e-waste exports.
