WEG Unveils New BESS Manufacturing Facility in Brazil with BRL 280 Million Investment
WEG has announced the establishment of a battery energy storage systems manufacturing plant in Itajaí, Brazil, financed with BRL 280 million. This facility will enhance WEG's production capacity and contribute to energy transition efforts in the region.

WEG will construct a battery energy storage systems (BESS) manufacturing plant in Itajaí, Brazil, with operations set to start in late 2027. The company has secured BRL 280 million in financing through the BNDES More Innovation programme to support this strategic expansion.
The facility will produce up to 2GWh of BESS annually, generating approximately 90 direct jobs. Additionally, WEG's overall investment plan includes BRL 1.1 billion by 2028, which encompasses other facility expansions and product line enhancements. This move aligns with the global push for renewable energy integration, as BESS are crucial for grid stability and reliability.
