West Bengal Expands Electronics Manufacturing Under EMC 2.0 Scheme
The West Bengal government is pursuing the expansion of electronics manufacturing through the Centre's EMC 2.0 scheme, focusing on existing clusters in Naihati and Falta. These locations, strategically positioned near Kolkata, aim to attract further investments amidst increasing government encouragement for technology projects.

West Bengal is exploring enhancements to its electronics manufacturing sector via the Centre's EMC 2.0 initiative, which subsidizes 50% of project costs for infrastructure development. Naihati and Falta, with available land of 70 acres and 58 acres respectively, are being considered for expansion as the state seeks to leverage existing capacities rather than establishing new land banks.
The initiative encourages investments in data centers, semiconductor projects, and IT-enabled services. To qualify for additional funding, the state must meet strict conditions, including minimum land requirements and production activity by allocated units. Potential compliance with these conditions could enhance the region's attractiveness for major electronics firms.
