West of England's Economic Growth and Innovation Highlights in 2025

The West of England showcased resilience in 2025, maintaining strength in technology, aerospace, and defence amidst economic challenges. The Great South West, comprising Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Somerset, and Wiltshire, contributed £81.3bn in nominal Gross Value Added (GVA) and experienced a 4.6% growth in businesses over five years, the highest in the UK.

The region leads in creative industries with a 4.1% annual growth rate, surpassing London. Tourism reached £2.7bn in value. Cornish Metals aims to revive the South Crofty tin mine by 2028 with £29m UK government backing.

Rowden Technologies, launched in 2016, saw sales of £20.4m and plans to create 100 jobs through a partnership with Isembard. Sendr raised £250,000 and expanded its portable urinals business. A Falmouth company secured investments for a tidal energy project in Wales, set to be operational by 2026. Sandwich Sandwich plans to open its first international branch in 2026.
