West Rockhill Proposes New Data Center Regulations Amid Local Concerns
West Rockhill is proposing an ordinance to regulate data centers in the Planned Industrial district, addressing local infrastructure impacts. This follows an informal plan for a 150,000-200,000 sq ft data center at 215 Cathill Road, which has raised community concerns about environmental effects.

West Rockhill is considering a zoning ordinance to regulate data centers in the Planned Industrial district. The proposed regulations would require applicants to enhance public infrastructure and incorporate on-site solar power to mitigate energy demands.
While no formal applications have been submitted, an informal plan for a data center of 150,000-200,000 square feet at 215 Cathill Road has been presented by National Land Developers and Greener by Design. The project may create approximately 18 jobs across three shifts.
Community opposition has emerged, focusing on noise, light pollution, and water usage concerns. A public hearing regarding the ordinance is scheduled for April 15 at the township municipal building.
