West Sussex County Council Invests £4.8M in 12 New Fire Engines for Fire & Rescue Service

STRATEGIC MINERALS

West Sussex County Council is investing £4.8 million in 12 new fire engines for the West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service as it approaches the end of its community risk management plan (CRMP). The new engines will incorporate advanced technology and a clean-cab design to minimize firefighter exposure to contaminants, while also ensuring lower emissions.

This investment is part of a £19.3 million budget that includes the construction of Platinum House, a new training center in Horsham. The CRMP has achieved significant milestones over the past four years, including increasing staffing levels and reducing false alarms at businesses. The service has conducted over 22,000 Safe and Well Visits since April 2022 and completed more than 4,000 risk-based inspections.
