Western Cape Contributes 20% of Global Satellites, Says Premier Winde
Premier Alan Winde announced that the Western Cape produces components for 20% of the world's satellites. He outlined new technology initiatives, including a drone testing sandbox and support for Operation Vulindlela, a national reform program aimed at economic growth. The province is expanding its ports management and transportation initiatives, including the JobSeeker Travel Voucher program and digital access with 1,600 free Wi-Fi hotspots. Winde highlighted significant investments in green hydrogen, manufacturing, and solar energy, along with a 49% increase in exports over three years.

Winde supports Operation Vulindlela, a national reform initiative, and has expanded the Ports Project Management Unit to improve freight coordination.
The JobSeeker Travel Voucher program will now include George, providing transport for job seekers. The province has 1,600 free Wi-Fi hotspots and is adding mobile e-centre buses. Five investment projects nearing financial closure include a R600m green hydrogen initiative. The Western Cape experienced a 49% increase in exports over three years, with over R9bn invested in Cape Town's CBD last year.
