Western Rail Project to be Integrated into Ghana's Big Push Programme
Ghana's President Mahama announced the integration of the Western Rail Line into the Big Push programme, which aims to enhance transport efficiency and boost economic growth. This initiative is expected to facilitate the movement of resources, including cocoa, bauxite, and manganese, thereby revitalizing state-owned enterprises and creating jobs.

President John Dramani Mahama has confirmed plans to integrate the Western Rail Line into the Big Push programme during the 2026 May Day celebration in Koforidua. The project aims to improve the transport of cocoa beans and open access to bauxite and manganese resources.
The government has also revitalized the Tema Oil Refinery and recapitalized the Agricultural Development Bank and the National Investment Bank. Despite these advancements, Mahama emphasized the need for vigilance from the Trades Union Congress to prevent mismanagement of enterprises. The initiative aligns with the administration's focus on sustainable economic growth and job creation.
