Westport Begins Production at New Hydrogen Facilities in Canada and China
Westport Fuel Systems Inc. has commenced production at its expanded facility in Cambridge, Ontario, and its new China Hydrogen Innovation Center in Changzhou, China. These facilities will enhance the development of GFI-branded fuel system components and support Westport's strategies for hydrogen, CNG, and RNG.
The Changzhou facility aims to meet the demand in the largest hydrogen commercial vehicle market, where sales surpassed all other regions in 2024. Initial product shipments began in December 2025, with both facilities expected to increase capacity through Q1 2026. This expansion aligns with Westport's growth strategy and aims to address rising global demand for alternative fuel technologies, particularly in China, which accounted for nearly 50% of global hydrogen transportation sales in early 2025.
