Westport Fuel Systems has commenced production at its expanded facility in Cambridge, Ontario, and a new Hydrogen Innovation Center in Changzhou, China. These facilities will enhance the manufacturing of GFI-branded fuel system components for hydrogen, CNG, and RNG applications.
Initial shipments of products began in December 2025, with both sites expected to ramp up capacity through the first quarter of 2026. China is noted as the largest hydrogen market globally, accounting for nearly 50% of hydrogen commercial vehicle sales in the first half of 2025.
This expansion supports Westport's strategy to meet rising demand for alternative fuels and improve logistics for local OEMs. The company faces financial challenges, including a net margin of -16.64% and an Altman Z-Score of -11.08, indicating potential bankruptcy risk within two years.
