Support for the data center was voiced by some residents, although WRRD emphasized the need for greater transparency regarding the project's details.

Wilmington Residents for Responsible Development (WRRD) announced plans to advocate for a moratorium on the proposed Amazon Web Services (AWS) data center project during a town hall meeting. Organizer Jessica Sharp intends to present this request at the Wilmington City Council meeting.
The council will hold first readings on the rezoning of four parcels near the proposed AWS site from rural residential to light industrial, which could facilitate expansion or similar facilities. WRRD is also considering a referendum on the Community Reinvestment Area agreement and has prepared petitions for the ballot.
Support for the data center was expressed by resident Fred Duff, who argued it would benefit the community. WRRD organizer Leonard Cluley emphasized the need for more transparency regarding project details before proceeding.
