Wonju Breaks Ground on First AI Data Center with 1.4 Trillion Won Investment for Healthcare City
Megadata Korea has commenced construction on Wonju's first AI data center, part of a 1.4 trillion won investment in a high-tech industrial complex in Dangu-dong. The facility will feature three 40MW data centers and employ patented 'Immersion Cooling' technology, aiming to enhance research in AI medical image analysis and personalized digital healthcare. Recognized as one of the nation's top data center projects, it is expected to foster innovation and collaboration among companies and research institutes in the healthcare sector.

Megadata Korea held a groundbreaking ceremony for Wonju's first urban high-tech industrial complex and hyperscale AI data center, with a total investment of 1.4 trillion won. Located in the Dangu-dong area, the facility will have a maximum capacity of 120MW and will include three 40MW data centers and an operations building.
Recognized as one of the 'Top 10 Data Center Projects Nationwide' by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, this project began preparations in 2021. The data center will utilize patented 'Immersion Cooling' technology for heat management and has partnered with IBM Kindle Korea to ensure operational stability. The city plans to use the center to advance research in AI medical image analysis and personalized digital healthcare, fostering an innovative ecosystem for related companies and research institutes.
