Worcestershire Proposes Hydroelectric Turbine on River Severn to Power Homes
A proposal by Worcestershire county councillor Richard Udall aims to build a hydroelectric turbine on the River Severn weir in Worcester, potentially powering hundreds of homes. The project seeks collaboration with the University of Worcester and National Grid, with funding from the sale of rural assets for a feasibility study. The turbine's design is inspired by a similar project in Totnes, Devon, which powers local facilities and could generate enough energy for approximately 300 homes.

Worcestershire county councillor Richard Udall has proposed the construction of a hydroelectric turbine on the River Severn weir in Worcester, which could power hundreds of homes. Collaborating with the University of Worcester and National Grid is planned, with funding for a feasibility study proposed to come from selling rural assets.
The concept is inspired by a similar turbine in Totnes, Devon, which currently powers a local school and industrial estate. The feasibility study will be discussed in the Worcestershire County Council meeting on February 26.
