Xcel Energy is enhancing its energy grid and investing in carbon-free solutions to meet growing demand and reduce emissions. The company has achieved a 58% reduction in carbon emissions since 2005 and aims to retire or convert all coal units by 2030.

Xcel Energy reported significant investments in its energy grid and a commitment to a carbon-free portfolio, aiming to serve increasing demand from various sectors, including data centers and electric vehicles. The company has reduced carbon emissions by 58% from 2005 levels and has retired or converted 27 coal units since 2007, planning to retire remaining units by 2030.
Xcel Energy has also cut water usage by 35% since 2005 and consistently exceeds industry reliability standards, restoring power to 89% of affected customers within 24 hours during storm events. In 2025, the company provided $175 million in customer rebates and connected over 200,000 households to energy assistance programs, further demonstrating its commitment to community support and sustainability. Future cost savings from wind and solar initiatives are projected to total approximately $6 billion by 2025.
