Xcel Energy Launches Solar and Battery Projects in Texas and New Mexico
Xcel Energy has launched solar generation and battery storage systems in Earth, Texas, and Hobbs, New Mexico, enhancing energy efficiency. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to optimize energy resources and ensure reliable service for customers.

Xcel Energy's solar generation and battery storage systems at Plant X in Earth, Texas, and Cunningham Generating Station in Hobbs, New Mexico, have been operational since April 1. Plant X features 150 megawatts of solar generation and is set to incorporate a 150-megawatt battery storage system by 2027, pending regulatory approval.
The Cunningham facility consists of a 72-megawatt solar array with a 36-megawatt storage system, while Cunningham 2 Solar is projected to deliver 196 megawatts by April 2027. These developments aim to reduce fuel costs and enhance energy delivery during peak demand periods, indicating a shift towards sustainable energy solutions in the region.
