Xiaomi Increases Smartphone Prices Amid Rising Memory Chip Costs
Xiaomi has disclosed a significant rise in expenses for memory modules, impacting smartphone pricing. The demand from AI data centers is driving chip prices higher, forcing manufacturers to adjust retail prices, particularly in China.

Xiaomi reports a price increase of 1,500 yuan (approximately 4,700 CZK) for a 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage combination compared to Q1 last year. This marks a nearly fourfold increase from around 1,600 CZK to approximately 6,300 CZK for the same package.
The demand from AI data centers is straining supply and driving up costs across the industry, impacting smartphone makers. Starting April 11, Xiaomi plans to raise the price of the Redmi K90 Pro Max in China by 200 yuan (around 700 CZK) and discontinue promotions on certain Redmi models. While these adjustments are limited to the Chinese market, rising costs are expected to eventually affect European pricing as well.
