Island Green Power UK Ltd is preparing a planning application for the 500MW Light Valley Solar Scheme, which will span 1,020 hectares across multiple Yorkshire villages. The local council's response to the Preliminary Environmental Information Report noted the absence of a health impact assessment.

It expressed concerns about long-term health effects, especially since the project could last 60 years. Additionally, the council requested more information on fire risks associated with the proposed battery energy storage system and its response to emergencies.

The use of agricultural land has also raised significant concerns. The strategic planning committee will discuss the project next Tuesday.
