Youth Association Criticizes ABK's Inaction Amid SUMP Concerns
Youths from Upper Siang district express dissatisfaction over the Adi Bane Kebang's lack of response to community issues, particularly regarding the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project. A public referendum rally is planned for June 28 to unify the Adi people in addressing these concerns.

The Siang Upper Multipurpose Project Affected Area Youth Association (SAAYA) has criticized the Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) for inaction regarding significant issues affecting the Adi community in Upper Siang district. Leaders of SAAYA, including president Geni Nangkar, assert that the ABK is failing to protect the community's ethnic identity and culture while remaining silent on government activities related to the controversial mega hydropower project.
Concerns have been raised that the project could threaten local resources and livelihoods. Additionally, a consultative meeting held on June 20 in East Siang district resulted in plans for a public referendum rally on June 28, aimed at rallying the Adi community to address these pressing issues collectively.
