Yuma Planning and Zoning Commission Rejects Rezoning for Potential Spaceport Site
The Yuma Planning and Zoning Commission did not approve a rezoning request for 597 acres near State Route 195, currently designated for agricultural use, to be changed to heavy industrial, which some commissioners considered for a future spaceport.

The Yuma Planning and Zoning Commission rejected a rezoning request for a 597-acre parcel near State Route 195. The property, located at the northeast and southeast corners of State Route 195 and Avenue A alignment, is currently zoned for agricultural use. The city proposed to rezone it to heavy industrial, but the Commission did not advance the request, despite some commissioners believing it could serve as a future spaceport site.
