Zambia Initiates 300MW Solar PV Tender via CFIP Programme
Zambia has launched a 300MW solar PV tender under the Carbon Feed-In Premium (CFIP) initiative. The project, targeting local and international independent power producers, must integrate battery storage and comply with specific eligibility criteria by the application deadline of May 31, 2026.

Zambia's Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, alongside the Ministry of Energy, announced a tender for solar PV projects totaling up to 300MW, part of the CFIP programme. Eligible projects must include battery energy storage systems (BESS) and have capacities between 30MWac and 100MWac.
Applications are open to various stakeholders, including ZESCO, with proposals due by May 31, 2026. The CFIP Steering Committee will evaluate submissions based on established criteria. Successful projects will enter a due diligence process and receive a CFIP renewable energy contract from ZANACO, detailing pricing and payment terms. This initiative coincides with Zambia's efforts to enhance regional power connectivity.
