Zambia's Luapula Province Achieves Industrial Milestone with New Manganese Processing Investment
The Zambian government has announced a significant mineral processing investment in Luapula Province, marking a milestone in industrialization and job creation. The project, initiated by Musamu Resources Ltd and Japan's Hanwa Company, aims to process manganese locally, enhancing economic growth. With a JORC2012 resource of 40 million tonnes and a production target of 1 million tonnes per year by year five, this initiative reflects Zambia's commitment to transforming its natural resources. The investment aligns with bilateral agreements to promote critical minerals development.

The Zambian government has heralded a new manganese processing investment in Luapula Province as a major industrial milestone. This initiative, a collaboration between Musamu Resources Ltd and Japan's Hanwa Company, represents the first large-scale mineral processing project in the province.
Launched in November 2022, the mine has a JORC2012 resource of approximately 40 million tonnes and aims to produce 1 million tonnes of manganese ore annually by year five. The project aims to process manganese locally, stimulating industrial growth and attracting further investment. The government emphasizes its support for this initiative, which aligns with President Hakainde Hichilema’s agenda for industrial development and value addition, and is backed by improved power supply initiatives.
