108 Maoists Surrender in Chhattisgarh's Bastar, Marking Historic Recovery in Anti-Naxal Operations

DEFENSE

A total of 108 Maoists surrendered in Bastar, Chhattisgarh, carrying a collective bounty of ₹3.95 crore. Authorities seized ₹3.61 crore in cash, 1 kg of gold valued at ₹1.64 crore, and 101 weapons, marking a record recovery in anti-Naxal operations.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has set a goal to eradicate Naxalism by March 31, 2026. Among the surrendered were six divisional committee members with bounties of ₹8 lakh each. The Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee, linked to the CPI (Maoist), has previously conducted numerous attacks in the region.

This mass surrender reflects a growing disillusionment with Maoist ideology, with many influenced by the government's rehabilitation initiatives. Over 2,714 Maoists have surrendered in Chhattisgarh in the past 26 months.
