Fifteen passengers were abducted on the Calabar-Oron waterway in Cross River State while traveling on a commercial Sea Express boat. The Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 6, Auwal Mohammed, has directed police commissioners in Cross River and Akwa Ibom states to enhance rescue operations.
An intelligence-driven security initiative is being deployed to recover the victims and apprehend the kidnappers, with collaboration from the Nigerian Navy and other agencies. The Calabar-Oron route is crucial for trade and commuting between the two states, highlighting the need for increased security measures to protect users of this transport corridor.
