250MW e-NG Project in Nebraska Begins FEED for 2027 Construction Target
A 250MW e-NG project in Nebraska, intended for export to Japan, has initiated FEED studies with a construction goal set for 2027. The project, developed by Tree Energy Solutions and partners, aims to produce 75,000 tonnes of gas annually, contributing to Japan's targets for e-NG in its gas network.

The Live Oak project, a green hydrogen-based e-NG initiative in Nebraska, has contracted KBR and Técnicas Reunidas for parallel front-end engineering design studies. The project aims to produce 75,000 tonnes of e-NG per year by combining green hydrogen from 250MW of electrolysis with captured CO2.
The selected FEED study will lead to execution in 2027, with operations expected to start by 2030. Primary offtakers include Itochu, Osaka Gas, and Toho Gas, aligning with Japan's goal for e-NG to constitute 1% of city gas sales by 2030.
There are concerns regarding the energy efficiency and sustainability of e-NG, even as it supports European renewable fuel mandates. TES plans further expansions in Canada, Finland, and various European locations.
