35 High-Powered Firearms Surrendered in Maguindanao Provinces
Civilians in Maguindanao del Sur and del Norte voluntarily surrendered 35 firearms to government authorities on February 16, 2026. On February 16, 2026, civilians in Maguindanao del Sur and del Norte surrendered 35 firearms to government authorities. In Talayan, 17 weapons were turned in, while 18 were surrendered in Talitay. The 6th Infantry Division reported that Lieutenant Colonel William Sabado received the firearms, which included M14 and Garand rifles, sniper rifles, grenade launchers, and RPGs.
The handover was conducted by Brigadier General Edgar Catu in the presence of police and local officials. Military leaders emphasized the significance of these surrenders in promoting peace and called on others with illegal weapons to cooperate.
