433rd Maintenance Group Completes First GE F-138 Jet Engine Replacement for C-5M Super Galaxy
Reserve Citizen Airmen from the 433rd Maintenance Group replaced a General Electric F-138 jet engine for the C-5M Super Galaxy between June 24 and July 3. The operation involved multiple squadrons and specialties, requiring coordination to safely disconnect the old engine and install the new one.
Since transitioning to the C-5M model in 2016, this was the first engine replacement conducted by the 433rd. A team from Dover Air Force Base provided expertise during the process. The operation was highlighted as a critical training opportunity for maintainers, demonstrating the interoperability between Reserve and Active-Duty units. The leadership recognized the event as a historic milestone, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and shared expertise within the C-5 community.
