4950th Test Wing Veterans to Reunite for Memorial Ceremony at Wright-Patterson
Former members of the 4950th Test Wing will gather from May 5-8 for a reunion at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. A key event includes a memorial for the ARIA 328 crash victims, commemorating 21 lives lost in 1981.

Approximately 125 veterans of the 4950th Test Wing will reunite in Dayton from May 5-8, 2026. The wing operated at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base from 1971 to 1994, primarily focusing on avionics and missile guidance systems testing.
A remembrance ceremony for the ARIA 328, which crashed in Maryland in 1981, will be held on May 6, honoring the 21 crew members who died, including Michael Riley from Trotwood. Following the ceremony, a gathering is scheduled at Rip Rap Roadhouse. The 4950th's functions relocated to Edwards AFB by the mid-1990s, but its historical impact on flight testing remains significant.
