80 Militants Surrender Arms to Nigerian Army in Cross River State Amnesty Program

On January 16, 2026, 80 militants from two camps in Akpabuyo Local Government Area, Cross River State, voluntarily surrendered to the Nigerian Army during an amnesty program. The first group, led by ThankGod Ebikontei, presented 39 fighters, while the second group, led by John Isaac, submitted 41 fighters.
They surrendered various weapons including AK-47 rifles, pump-action guns, and explosives. The militants are now undergoing profiling by the Department of State Services. The Commander of 13 Brigade, Brigadier General P.O. Alimikhena, emphasized the importance of military operations and collaboration with the state government in fostering peace.
