80 Militants Surrender Weapons to Nigerian Army in Cross River State
Eighty militants from Akpabuyo LGA in Cross River State surrendered their weapons to the Nigerian Army on January 16, 2026, as part of an amnesty program. Led by ThankGod Ebikontei and John Isaac, the groups handed over firearms, including AK-47 rifles and explosives, and were subsequently transferred to the state government's Rapid Response Team for profiling. The Army highlighted the success of military operations and collaboration with state authorities in improving security in the region.

On January 16, 2026, 80 militants from Akpabuyo LGA, Cross River State, surrendered to the Nigerian Army under an amnesty program. Two groups, led by ThankGod Ebikontei (39 fighters) and John Isaac (41 fighters), handed over arms including AK-47 rifles and explosives.
The surrender occurred at Atimbo Rear Area, Operation OKWOK, and the militants were transferred to the state government's Rapid Response Team for profiling. The Army emphasized the success of military operations and collaboration with state authorities in enhancing security.
