AAP Criticizes BJP Over Closure of Atal Canteens in Delhi Due to LPG Shortage
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has criticized the BJP-led Centre for the closure of several Atal Canteens in Delhi due to a shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), affecting subsidized meal access for the urban poor. The closures, reported at four locations, highlight gaps in supply management that impact economically vulnerable groups. The Centre has urged consumers to use LPG wisely and is considering expanding piped natural gas infrastructure as a solution.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has raised concerns about the closure of Atal Canteens in Delhi, attributed to a shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). At least four canteens, located in Pratap Camp, Kalkaji, Anna Nagar near ITO, and R K Puram, have ceased operations, disrupting access to Rs 5 meals for low-income residents.
AAP claims this situation reveals significant failures in supply management under the BJP-led Centre, with economically vulnerable groups most adversely affected. In response to the LPG shortage, the Centre has urged consumers to use fuel judiciously and is exploring the expansion of piped natural gas (PNG) infrastructure to mitigate future shortages.
