Abia Governor Commends IGP for Posting Police Officers to Home States
Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti commended Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun for a new policy assigning police officers to their home states, believing it will enhance local crime fighting through officers' cultural insights. Otti welcomed 31 newly commissioned officers and pledged support for their mobility and accommodation needs. The initiative received backing from legal and police officials, who emphasized its potential to strengthen community policing and identify criminal hideouts.

Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti praised Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun for a new policy that assigns police officers to their states of origin. Otti welcomed 31 newly commissioned officers from the Nigerian Police Academy, emphasizing that the policy would enhance local crime fighting by leveraging officers' cultural understanding.
He committed to supporting the officers with mobility and accommodation to aid their roles. Dr. Monday Ubani (SAN) supported the policy, asserting it will help identify criminal hideouts.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Irozuru Somtochukwu stated that the initiative fosters trust and community policing. Government officials present included the Chief of Staff Pastor Caleb Ajagba and Special Adviser on Security Navy Commander MacDonald Uba (Rtd).
